Winnow Pillow - Resist Dye Indigo II
The Winnow pillow is a piecework resist dye indigo pillow composed with fragments of hand-loomed antique indigo cottons from Hebei Province, China. Early 20th C. indigo dyed beautifully by skilled craftspeople in floral and butterfly motifs. These resist dye butterfly motifs are traditional done by tying the cloth around a rice husk. The name Winnow refers to the process of removing the husk from the rice using the strength of the wind.
