A magical set of piecework resist dye indigo pillows composed with fragments of hand-loomed antique indigo cottons from Hebei or Shandong Province, China. Early 20th C. indigo dyed beautifully by skilled craftspeople in floral and butterfly motifs. These resist dye butterfly motifs are traditional done by tying the cloth around a rice husk. The name Winnow refers to the process of removing the husk from the rice using the strength of the wind.
This is a perfect pillow for a sofa or chair that can been viewed from behind as there are no hard edges of a contrasting back fabric. The center indigo panel continues to the back, to meet with a composition of piecework indigo.
