lotus pillow

A 19th C. resist dye patchwork indigo. Our favorite salvaged piece of indigo; a forgotten in-between layer from a futon cover found in Hebei Province.

It shows the lotus flower in it's different life stages: full bloom, ready to blossom and dried pod-- the surrounding dots representing water. The pillow front panel has been piece worked, patched and repaired--please see all images.

The hebei collection of pillows are indigos with beautiful patinas; flaws and odd stitching is to be expected and much appreciated.
